Format Changes
The 2024-25 season will mark a significant change in the format of the UEFA Champions League. The tournament will expand to 36 teams, with:
- Eight groups of four teams each
- A single league table for all 36 teams
- The top eight teams in the league table advancing directly to the Round of 16, while teams ranked 9th-24th will compete in a two-leg playoff to determine the remaining eight Round of 16 spots
Host City
After previously hosting the 2011 and 2013 finals, London's Wembley Stadium will once again welcome the pinnacle of European club football in 2024.
Defending Champions
Manchester City will be the team to beat in the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League, having won the title in the previous season.
