Hellas Verona secures Serie A status with win over Salernitana

Late goal seals survival for visitors

Verona's victory lifts them out of relegation zone

Hellas Verona secured their Serie A status for next season with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Salernitana on Sunday. In a tense relegation battle, Verona needed a win to guarantee their survival, while Salernitana required a victory to boost their own hopes of staying up. The game started brightly, with both teams looking to take the initiative. Salernitana had the first chance of the game, but Federico Bonazzoli's shot was saved by Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò. Verona then grew into the game and took the lead in the 25th minute. Antonín Barák played a delightful through ball to Davide Faraoni, who fired a low shot into the bottom corner. Salernitana responded well to going behind and equalized just before half-time. A cross from Pasquale Mazzocchi found its way to Boulaye Dia, who headed home from close range. The goal gave Salernitana hope, but Verona started the second half strongly and restored their lead in the 55th minute. Bryan Dabo found space on the left wing and delivered a cross to Josh Doig, who headed home from close range. The goal knocked the stuffing out of Salernitana, and Verona controlled the game for the rest of the match. This result takes Verona up to 37 points, so the final relegation spot is between Udinese, Frosinone, and Genoa.
