On June 6, 1944, the world witnessed the largest amphibious invasion in history.

Operation Overlord, codenamed D-Day, was the Allied invasion of Normandy, France, during World War II. It was launched on June 6, 1944, with the simultaneous landing of US, British, and Canadian forces on the beaches of Normandy.

Operation Neptune, the naval component of Overlord, involved the largest armada of ships ever assembled, with over 6,000 vessels participating in the cross-Channel operation. The invasion saw tens of thousands of troops from the United States, Britain, Canada, and other Allied nations land on the beaches of Normandy.
