Residents Urged to Take Precautions
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for our area. The watch is in effect until 10 p.m. tonight. Residents are urged to take precautions and be prepared for severe weather.
Severe thunderstorms can produce damaging winds, hail, and flooding. Lightning is also a major hazard during thunderstorms.
If you are caught outside during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a sturdy building or vehicle. Stay away from windows and doors.
If you are at home, stay indoors and away from windows. Listen to the radio or television for updates on the storm.
Here are some additional safety tips:
- Secure loose objects outside your home, such as patio furniture and grills.
- Have a plan in place in case of a power outage.
- Stay informed about the latest weather conditions.
