2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Start Dates and TV Coverage Announced

First Round Schedule Released, National Television Coverage Unveiled

NEW YORK -- The National Hockey League (NHL) has announced the dates, start times, and national television coverage for the first round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, which begins on April 17, 2023, three days after the end of the regular season.

The 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs will feature the top 16 teams in the NHL, who will compete in a single-elimination tournament for the chance to win the Stanley Cup. The first round of the playoffs will feature eight best-of-seven series, with the winners advancing to the second round.

The national television coverage of the first round of the playoffs will be split between ESPN and TNT. ESPN will televise the following games:

  • Game 1 of the Boston Bruins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs series
  • Game 1 of the Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Washington Capitals series
  • Game 2 of the Edmonton Oilers vs. Calgary Flames series
  • Game 2 of the Colorado Avalanche vs. Minnesota Wild series

TNT will televise the following games:

  • Game 1 of the Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Rangers series
  • Game 1 of the New York Islanders vs. Philadelphia Flyers series
  • Game 2 of the St. Louis Blues vs. Dallas Stars series
  • Game 2 of the Nashville Predators vs. Los Angeles Kings series

The remaining games of the first round will be televised on regional sports networks.
